It hit me like a ton of bricks this morning as I was walking to work. Through a set of very odd circumstances I was in a pretty foul mood and so the gears in my head were whirring furiously. Thinking about work, thinking about my trip, thinking about me when I suddenly wondered, why am I doing it all?
I spent a lot of time yesterday looking at themes for this site, doing some rough drafts of business cards, talking to people about my trip but it felt like something was lacking. It was only this morning that I realized what.
A purpose, a reason, a unifying force to give me direction. Sure I want to make money. Sure I want to have an adventure. Sure I want to improve myself. But why and to what end?
Without knowing that all my efforts will be for naught. That is a question I will have to ponder and figure out before making any real progress. Everything is just window dressing without purpose. I might have some great stories but that’s about it.
