I was making my way through a book on sales today, Selling Sucks (by Frank Rumbauskas), when I came across something that made me slap my forehead with how obvious it was. An idea that has become more and more clear to me over these last few weeks preparing for my trip.
‘Money follows action.’ That’s a no brainer, right? If we want to be rich we have to do something. Without action there is no reaction, or so the laws of thermodynamics tell us.
Then again, how many people do you know who keep talking about how they are going to be rich, or find a new job, or do anything for that matter but don’t seem to get any closer to that goal of theirs? They just keep on hoping, thinking and planning.
Then again I always talked about how I was going to start a business, make lots of money, do what I wanted but nothing happened until I took off my thinking cap and put on my work gloves. For me my first action was to make a list about what countries I wanted to visit. A short simple list that moved removed my dream from the sky and put it within reach. From there I kept translating my thoughts and plans into action, scared that if I stopped to think too long things would come to a grinding halt.
Sitting back and contemplating about how we are going to do/get our special something is great, but until we get off our lazy arses that dream or goal will stay just that. What we want will not just form before us out of the ether by force of will alone (unless you are telekinetic).
Is there anything you could do right now that would help to move that dream of yours into reality? If so, why aren’t you doing it? Stop reading this blog and go do it!
