It’s not as easy to travel between countries as I thought it was, at least in South-east Asia. As a child I did plenty of traveling to Europe, mainly Germany, to visit family. I got used to the -show your passport, smile, and be welcomed in- atmosphere of the EU. No annoying paperwork (other then the customs card), no extra fees, no delay.   It seems, though, that that is not the case for the whole world.
