What’s worse then having one leg soaked up to the knee in freezing cold water while you are wandering around outside in a snow covered nature preserve trying to take photographs?  Simple, having both legs soaked up to the knee in freezing cold water.  Did that sloshy feeling in my boots as I gingerly stepped on the thinning ice send me running home for hot chocolate and dry socks?  Heck no.

Tramp Royal debuts in Alcoholmanac

It was a great day as I flipped through the latest issue of Alcoholmanac and came to a stop on page 22.  There, staring up at me from a two page spread, was my first ever published article.  The title, “Michael Wessel’s Tramp Royal’ brought a smile to my face.  Though my photography had graced the pages of Alcoholmanac before (and even a cover photo) this was my official debut as a writer.

First try at head shots

A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine, Katie, sent a quick note through Facebook asking a little favor of me.  She had seen/heard of some of the photography I’d been doing lately and was wondering if I’d be willing to do some head shots for her so she could use them as a social media avatar.  Always looking to stretch myself and for some practical practice I of course said, ‘yes.’  Her busy schedule allowed her one night a couple of days ago to spend 2 hours with me in my makeshift studio trying to get that ‘one perfect shot.’
